Course Contents
B2B Application Integration Overview:
As corporate dependence on technology has grown more complex and far reaching, the need for a method of integrating disparate applications between enterprises into a unified set of business processes in support of B2B e-business has emerged as priority. The development of B2B application integration allows many of the enterprise applications that exist today to share both processes and data. In this section, discussion will focus on different types of B2B integration such as Data-oriented, process oriented, etc and the role of business process integration in e-business.
Introduction to WebLogic Process Integrator:
Understanding and proactively managing business processes is an e-business imperative. WebLogic Process Integrator helps businesses gain competitive advantage by standardizing and streamlining business processes. This powerful process engine enables the effective end-to-end management of system/application-based business processes and traditional human-based workflow. This section provides an overview of WebLogic Process Integrator and discusses the need for a process engine in a B2B environment.
Architecture of Demo Application:
In this class students will develop a full-blown J2EE e-commerce application. This demo application will be built using WebLogic Process Integrator and WebLogic Server 6.0. Once the demo application is built it will be integrated with trading partners using WebLogic Collaborate. Workflow for B2B integration will be built using the Process Integrator. This will give a very good idea on what will be achieved in the following sections. By explaining the architecture at this early stage, students will be able to relate the discussions on different technologies in the following sections to this demo application. From this point forward, all the lab exercises will focus only on this demo application.
WebLogic Process Integrator Studio:
Developers can use BEA WebLogic Process Integrator to assemble EJB and other Java-based components for rapid development and deployment of e-business applications. Traditional component assembly without the use of a process integration tool involves extensive application code generation and leads to costly testing and maintenance cycles. Students will learn how to develop workflows, define actions, use expressions, handle exceptions, monitor workflows and understand events.
WebLogic Process Integrator Worklist:
This section introduces the students to the WebLogic Process Integrator worklist. It explains how to view and perform the tasks that are currently assigned to a user or to a role.
Introduction to B2B Collaborate:
The BEA WebLogic Collaborate is a XML and Java based software framework used to deploy B2B e-commerce systems that link back-end applications, databases, and customers into an automatic and flexible electronic collaboration. This chapter provides and overview on WebLogic Collaborate and business protocols like RosettaNet and XOCP, which are supported by WebLogic Collaborate.
A c-space provides the administration capability, conversation coordination, and underlying messaging services that are required to create a dynamic B2B integration environment. The c-hub that hosts the c-space serves as the transportation utility for sending messages among trading partners. This chapter introduces the students to c-hub architecture, c-hub administrative console and the c-hub repository.
c-enabler exists at each trading partners site and allows a trading partner to participate in predefined c-spaces and possibly with multiple c-hubs. The c-enabler architecture and the configuration of the c-enabler will be discussed in detail.
WebLogic Process Integrator and WebLogic Collaborate:
Trading partners can use WebLogic Process Integrator to manage complex e-business processes with multiple trading partners. Workflow developed using WebLogic Process Integrator Studio can be linked to the c-enabler configuration for execution. WebLogic Process Integrator worklist provides a user interface that lets you define e-business process exceptions to human users for resolution. These concepts and tools will be discussed in this section.
